Thursday night was the NY premier of Markheim by Carlisle Floyd at the
Sylvia and Danny Kaye Playhouse - 68th between Lexington and Park Avenues,
presented by the Center for Contemporary Opera. This is a memorable piece
of theater. Great story, well told to a score that enhances the drama.

The piece runs just about an hour and ten minutes with no intermission.
Except for some ragged edges, particularly in the orchestra, the level of
the performance - set, staging and singing and all - were very fine.

For those who can get to it, tomorrow is the second (and last) performance.
