The first half of Barbara Cook's lovely medley at the Albanese gala was the
song "He Was Too Good to Me" by Rodgers and Hart. It's from "Simple
Simon," a forgotten 1930 musical that also featured "Ten Cents a Dance."

Ms. Cook can be heard in this Rodgers/Sondheim medley on her "Live From
London" CD, among other sources (it's a favorite number in her repertoire.)
Dawn Upshaw also sings a lovely version of "He Was Too Good to Me" on her
"Rodgers and Hart" disc.
